MANDATORY SIGNAGE DETAILS
Mandatory signs can be easily identified by their design: a white pictogram on a blue circle. They are used to indicate that specific protective clothing or equipment must be worn or a specific course of action must be taken (or adhered to) on the premises.
This mandatory sign is the "Wear Dust Mask Protection" sign (code - MV12), whose pictogram is a white dust mask to inform employees (and other persons) that dust mask protection must be worn to enter this area or to work in this area (examples may include work areas where dust may be produced or is prominent, silos, sugar mills, etc). This sign can be used singly on its own or in combination with other mandatory signs, depending upon what the circumstances may require. For example:
Wear Hand Protection (MV5)
Wear Foot Protection (MV7)
This sign is constructed from ABS plastic and has the dimensions 190mm x 190mm.
WHO NEEDS TO USE THESE MANDATORY SIGNS?
These mandatory signs are required by companies where there may be areas (or circumstances) on their premises that require specific protective equipment or clothing to be worn that are not currently indicated so these can be indicated and easily identified and persons on the premises can be made aware of their need to wear such clothing or equipment.
WHY ARE MANDATORY SIGNS IMPORTANT?
These mandatory signs are important because they create awareness to persons on the premises of the need to wear protective clothing or equipment or use protective equipment in certain circumstances or areas in order to ensure their health and safety while in these areas. Their use allows mandatory workplace requirements to be indicated quickly and easily.
This also provides evidence to an inspector that an organisation is creating awareness of the need to wear protective clothing or equipment in certain areas or under certain circumstances in the interests of health and safety and is therefore complying with legislation in this respect.
